I am not sure about the practicality of this, but how about some sort of tank battle. I was thinking that participants could build a tank using their own ATV based on given specifications for the event. Those who build their own tanks could bring them to the field the day before the event begins and get them cerified for the event. Along with the tanks that people brought in, other foot soldiers, mechanics, medics, etc. could participate along with the tanks in scenarios or on other missions.

Yeah lets make the tanks the objectives or something....You get points for each tank that stands at the end of a given time? |

Somebody has been watching Greatest Tank Battles on Military Channel, lol. The Battle of Kursk airs this week sometime. The Blitzkrieg event in August, run by ARC, is heavily tank based... at least that's their hope if they can get enough there.
I don't mind playing against tanks but as a "foot soldier" they can be frustrating. If it's tank on tank not just tank on player, or a way for a player to take out the tank without a rocket, then that would be pretty cool. Tanks definitely add another layer to the game but sometimes it's just fun to shoot at other players without some indestructible force getting in the way. If however the game is advertised as "tank-heavy" then I guess the players know what to expect & can stay home if they want. For the record: as much as tanks drive me crazy sometimes I certainly wouldn't be one of the ones staying home, lol. |

I will say this, the Blitzkreig game will be much different if we can get two or more tanks on a side. They will have to be worried about each other as well as rocketeers. There is also going to be a 30 minute tank only battle at one point. Two of the 8 infantry battles with no tanks at all. AND just for the mentioning, Bootman can keep a tank out of battle for an entire day by his lonesome(and a shoulder fired launcher), if he so desires. So don't sow despair so quickly! As far as "without a rocket" if you take a standard issue GI sock, fill it with as much composition B as it will hold, and then cover it in axle grease. You throw it at a tank and it sticks, a sticky bomb, a bomb that sticks........ just sayin!

I like the line from SAVING PRIVATE RYAN!
How about paint grenades being able to temporarily (not for the mission or whatever like the rockets) take a tank out of commission until "a mechanic fixes them" symbolically? I'm not sure whether I saw this as a rule somewhere on Battlefront's website, or whether it was somewhere else but it seamed like it gave regular players a better chance against tanks on the field. We will consider options as the date draws nigh and we know how many tanks, zooks, players are going to be there. Grenades have been used in the past to disable a tank for a set time(like 10 minutes). Some rule adjustments MAY be made.......there are also other game adjustments, they are called shenanigans! Don't forget this is an armored campaign. Managing resources(tanks, rockets, infantry) will have something to do with victory.

Oh I know... Booty makes tank crews crazy like tanks make me crazy. It's quite comical to listen to the guys inside when they are rolling back to respawn. |
