I just used this particular combo at Enemy at the Gates on Saturday. I was already running a freak barrel, and at lunch was discussing the whole flatline vs. apex debate with a few people and Bootman offered to let me use the Apex tip for the second half of the day. I didn't even realize they made such a combo before that moment. I must say Ares, I was quite pleased with the accuracy the combo provided.
Now in all fairness, the only paint I had left at the time was rec grade, so I didn't get the chance to really see if this is the match made in heaven I'm looking for, but.... I will say that I got all my kills in the second half of the game. Whether it was the barrel or not, I don't know. But I did notice a smaller "grouping" when I was hitting passive targets. I'm probably gonna end up getting the Apex tip freak front. Hanny's 2 cents...

okay, someone explain this to me in plain english cuz apparently I am an idiot. I have an X-7 and went to a 14in barrel because I wanted to make my marker look like an m-16, and needed the extra length to get the front sight and the foregrip. It is a lapco and looks awesome and when I first fired it I was more than satisfied with the performance. However the last few times I have played I have been less than satisfied with the accuracy of my marker. I was starting to think it was just me.....which is still a possibility, but after reading some of these posts now i am wondering if it is the barrel. help please

The problem is and is not your barrel. Let me explain. The real problem is that all paint is not the same size. It differs from one brand to another - sometimes even one batch of the same brand to another batch. Then there is weather to consider. One barrel will not work optimally for all types (sizes) of paint. That is why I chose a barrel that has "sizers." I would post a link on some pretty thorough research regarding sizers but most of it is not plain english, and is rather long winded. Essentially it works like this: The sizer is basically a small barrel that is threaded directly to your receiver. They come in various sizes (hence the name!) to accommodate different sizes of paint. To determine which sizer you use, you just drop a paintball in the sizer, it should not roll through, but should be easy to blow out. Once you have your sizer, simply thread on your barrel extension. I believe this has more to do with barrel accuracy than rifling, barrel length or any of the other bells and whistles.
I'll bet that if you put a caliper on paint that you find works good with your barrel and paint that is innacurate, you'll see a difference in the size.
The Freak barrel system, J&J Edge are some examples of sized barrel systems. Side note: accuracy shouldn't be confused with distance. The flatline barrel is designed to make a ball shoot farther, and it accomplishes this goal with a curved barrel that puts backspin on the ball.
