IA DRANG The first Ia Drang was so popular we are planning a huge "expansion pact" for this one. For starters, we'll be passing out lots of the new grenades to be used as trip-wire booby traps. Artillery will be improved and much more accurate, the NVA will have their own commanders, we'll use the ambulance to Medivac wounded,(less walking-faster respawn) Green Berets will be available to counter NVA Sappers and maybe rescue the lost platoon, copters will be "armed" when landing troops, NVA will have RPG's (could make life difficult for a copter) NVA can attack multiple objectives, American recon can try to capture NVA General Huu, VC will have "tunnels" they can use to pop up very close to American lines, at some point the lost platoon may try to fight there way out of the encirclement, etc. In this expanded version, Americans will also be hiking across country in an attempt to reach LZ-Alpha...and the NVA will be in position to ambush them...unless General Huu is captured and forced to blab. This will be a GREAT battle! Oh yeah...when you pre-reg you can choose to join: US Army, US Army Helo Pilot(armed) Green Beret, Lost Platoon, NVA, NVA Sapper(These guys will have the RPG's), NVA Tunnel Rat. |

Field usually opens up between 7:30 and 8:00, games typically start around 10 and end at 5. Registering online will save you some hassle though on game day.

I registered online for my first game at Battlefront (D-Day). I must say it was an effortless check in. I just handed them the printout and they handed me a packet with everything I needed and a case of paint. A+
Less effort, saves money, helps them run a smoother event... winners all around.

Will we be allowed to use side arms such as a pistol in addition to a regular marker in game making a total of two markers?

You can carry as many markers as you would like as long as it chronos under 290 fps and the paint that it is firing is purchased at Battlefront. |

Some go 10+ feet underground, others sit just below the surface. The longest tunnel is 1/2 mile long with 9 entrances. They are a little cramped, oh and BRING A HEADLAMP if you want to navigate around in them. The tunnels aren't of major concern though... it's the punji stakes you've got to watch out for!
- H
PS. In all seriousness, I am guessing the "tunnels" would be a group of players led by a ref while in "neutral" status to a different location on the field. Dunno for sure though, as I did not play in the last Ia Drang.

Hahaha...very nice, how much a very nice
But yes the second part is right, we use a rope, the same rope that simulates airdrops and air cav and any other thing we can come up with. Edited by Chappy - Jul/08/2009 at 9:29am |

I was thinking about NVA Tunnel Rats having U.S. Army armbands that would allow them to "pop up" inside the American LZ. Should keep Hal Moore's guys heads on a swivel, and accurately simulate how the VC were able to show up where and when the Americans least expected it. Once hit, a tunnel rat would have to surrender his armband....and then they would become a normal, garden variety pain-in-the-ass Viet Cong.

Replacing the use of the tunnels with a rope sure take the realism out of it. The use of real tunnels sounds more adventurous exciting.

Eh we can't have everything can we? On the bright side the game would be so fun it shouldn't matter. This is going to be my first scenario game so I'm hopping it to be extra fun. I pre registered and I'm already vomiting with excitement tunnels or no tunnels. Ewww... Ummm... Is there a janitor around? I'm afraid to to touch it... *pokes vomited excitement with a stick* Any ways I would like to tell you the full play by play of my very first paintball game ever. The break get called and I start running. Before I take my third step I get shot right in the center of the forehead! (lucky me i had a visor) I didn't care about that though because it gave me the biggest rush ever. After a few games I figured I'm too big for speed ball, that is unless a field makes a rule were we have to lug around 25-50lbs markers then I would be just right. So until that happens (never obviously) I'll stick with woods ball, it's more fun anyways.

It's a one-time use of the armbands for the tunnel rats. This is to simulate the Americans finding the tunnels and blowing them up so the NVA couldn't use them again. Used properly, the tunnel rats will make a mess of the American positions, but they can't keep doing it the entire game.

Oh yeah...the correct name of the game is IA DRANG. IA is Viet for "river". The battle took place near the Drang River.
