I completely agree! There was way to much standing around.

you guys got organized we didn't have any organization i did the best i could but only like 10 people had Comms so it was near impossible not to mention half the marines were spread in the woods for some reason....we did hold Marine HQ though so i'm pretty proud of the guys that stayed together and stayed organized!

to be honest! when we defended it was like 2 or three main spots that there would be fire fights and then it would be done for 30 mins. that was what was boring. and i do not know how many times u can shoot someone and they do not call themselves out!

That armband thing may have responsible for a lot of the people seeming to not go out, though I'm sure there was a share of people who didn't have extra armbands not going out.  People pretending not to be shot seems to be becoming a bigger problem in the sport, not just at Battlefront either, we have seen it at other fields also.  It seems people aren't even taking time to wipe anymore, just flat out ignoring the shots!

Brian makes a great point, but even though it does seem that way ... it is actually the way it has always been.  I agree that it may be becoming more pronounced at this time, but i think it is a part of the game that is always going to be there no matter how hard you try to enforce it.

If someone doesn't want to go out that I know I can hit, I just keep hitting them until they know that they aren't going to get away with it haha.

On the other side of the coin, I know that a lot of balls that hit me this weekend did bounce I was surprised about that.  It could have just been that there I am sure there were a few cases where people just didn't want go out.

Either way, we still did dominate hahaha

As far as bounces, I see a lot of people leave their paint laying out in the sun baking.  Which ultimately leads to increased bounciness.

 yeah

i flat out got pissed and walked out in the middle of a fire fight  cause i nailed sum ass in the back 4 times and he just walked up to the flag and tried to put it up. i had to walk him back to his respawn cause he kept trying to call himself out and keep playing.

^This.

I got several really surprising bounces. One was a shot right on my head, and not from any crazy distance, smacked my skull and happily trotted away. I thought I was hit until I heard a teammate behind me say "Seriously!?!?" and start laughing. From the impact and distance, I'm cconfident in saying that it definitely SHOULD have broken. I agree that paint sitting in the sun must have been an issue. A lot of people don't realize that the same principle which makes for brittle paint in the winter makes for paint-filled hi-bounce balls in the sweltering heat. Never hurts to bring an extra cooler (even one of those soft, free miller lite ones you get with the beer in the summer) to toss your case of paint in.

All that established, of course there were some people who would get hit and not call out, or not go all the way back to respawn, etc. It's an unfortunate consequence of playing a shooting game in which people don't die: tough to verify kills. It's been around as long as paintball and there's no way to stop it. You can, however, mitigate it. Good reffing helps, but in large games it's logistically impossible to have refs on everyone, 1:10 is even a heavy-reffing ratio. Easing the penalty for getting hit helps by decreasing the incentive to cheat. Battlefront's constant respawns achieve this to great effect, IMO. Finally, and most importantly, cultivating a culture of honor and respect at a field will, over time, greatly reduce the population of the wrong kind of player. I've been playing ball for almost 17 years, at dozens of fields, and I can honestly say that the culture at battlefront is among the best. Bounces happen, wipes happen, immature or dishonorable players happen. The best we can do is encourage fair play and makes the game so fun to play the right way that cheating isn't an attractive option.

There was ALOT of bounces. Actualy I believe it was the quality of the paint and it was good paint! The tourny grade is designed not to break in your gun. So i believe that was that.
I can say with everything going on the sportsmanship was very good!

I have to disagree severely on this statement.   Tourney grade paint is designed to be more brittle so you get a break on your target every time.  As far as markers go the more expensive "Space guns" are designed to be a little easier on the brittle tourney paint.

Good point on the bounces.  I took a couple to the head that didn't break!  That speaks volumes on bounces!

That's not entirely true either. However I should have stated "This tourny grade paint..." Formula 13 is designed with a regular shell (Read thick) and a thick fill. Besides does anyone remember Marblizer? I still have headaches from getting hit with those at tournies.

Still a great game. I think everyone had fun.

I love Ultra-evil.  Best paint imo.  They may have changed something in the last 10 years because my jersey washed clean from a tournament last year.

I miss Original Bronze Chronic with the orange fill. "Brushcutters" I remember seeing a kid try to wipe it off his helmet after i head shot him, all it did was smear the paint all over the helmet when the ref came up and told him he was out and if he caught him wiping again he would be done.
