A member of the forums asked this question in private, but I figured we should get this answer out in the public anyways.
could you help me out with answering a few things? are players permitted to carry more than one marker,( say a primary and a secondary like a pistol?) OF COURSE !!! Bootman has been known to enter the Reichstag with a backpack FULL of 'backup' guns. can players bring their own paintballs for this secondary?(it shoots .43 cal, not the standard .68 cal)? i could compensate such as pay the $61 for the secondary's ammo, unless of cousre you carry the .43 cal. the marker in question is the RAP4 Combat Pistol shown here. http://www.rap4.com/paintball/os/ram-combat-paintball-pistol-green as you can see i payed good money for this and i was wondering if i could use it. thank you for your time, please respond soon. We are a FIELD PAINT ONLY facility. However, we do not carry the .43 cal rounds. This being the case, I will say that as long as the marker in question is your backup marker (ie. pistol ) and your primary marker uses the standard 68 cal field paint there would probably not be a problem. I would however think that the field would not look kindly on you playing with the .43 cal paint primarily. A Few Notes: # 1: It must chrono under 290 fps. # 2: You must inform the management of your intentions while registering so that the referee staff can be notified. # 3: Your breaks are going to be smaller, due to the size of the round. This may be an issue with referees seeing the breaks, plus they are going to be looking for Field Paint Colors not necessarily marking the same color as yours. # 4: Players may ignore your breaks from the .43 cal marker assuming that because they aren't field paint they don't count (and they would be right to do so) until a ref can inform him of the exception. Some players are intense and may get a little hot headed... so just be calm and deal with it. You brought it upon yourself :) Other Veterans and Ringneck (of course) feel free to chime in on this subject. |

Greg Hastings used one of these during WAW last year and
A. Didn't tell us he had it.
B. Wasn't his primary weapon
C. Got really mad when a player (who i know and respect very much) didn't feel the hit and kept playing on.
Everything Ivan said is correct, people have used different caliber rounds before as backup weapons, Boots tried a few different guns on several occasions. If your going to use it make sure we know about it and know that it may not always have the effect you want it to.
These same rules go for you people jumping on Smart Parts 50cal crap wagon.

Battlefront carries a 68 cal. round therefore all other 68 cal. rounds would be smuggling.

I believe in a buisiness that has a direction,a format and solid leadership. With that said,Battlefront has that in my opionion. Still growing with a lot of input from a solid core of players that want nothing but the best for this fantastic field. With growth comes a lot of headaches.Such as the latter in question. The first thing would be to say yes,to try to satisfy(the few) do you think it would bring more players. It will not make the field any better. The field brings players.Stay the course with your rules, true scenerio players wont mind as long as there is a fair playing field for everyone. On the buisiness side of it ,if they are able to bring thier own cal. paint, field fees would have to increase. |

As a fellow game producer and frequent BF ref, I would strongly encourage people to let the staff know about any non-BF paint required for specialty markers that you as a player deem necessary to bring to the field. It is for YOUR benefit that you do this. I have no problem stopping players on the field that are suspected of smuggling paint. By time we find said person, we are usually pretty agitated, so letting us know ahead of time will keep you off the Ref/Staff sh!t-list. That's all I have this topic.

Yeah, but those 1st Strike rounds are "special." Not unlike Aqua. :p Since they're so darn expensive, I can't really see anyone playing a full day with those things. I would assume that as long as it's discussed with Dave and regular .68 cal rounds are purchased for the majority of play, it might be ok. Don't take my word as gospel though. Run it by Dave before playing with those things. You'll probably still have issues with players not calling themselves out if it's breaking another color (again, rightfully so.) I'm going to give those rounds a few years to see what happens with them. If they come down in price and up in popularity, I might consider outfitting some sort of lightweight backup sniper rig for myself if Battlefront allows the rounds on the field, or starts selling them. Or maybe I've just been playing Modern Warfare 2 a little bit too much...

On topic:
Another thing the ref staff could do then is make an announcement at the briefing about the different paint being used by "x" player. That would help people not calling themselves out thinking they got hit w/ smuggled paint & then getting all heated about it. Of course that would require players listening during briefing... as if there aren't enough people asking "Wait, where is my respawn at?" Off topic:
Is it possible to play MW2 too much? I'm Jonesing for some HQ right now.
If there is one, Rap4 probably offers it... but it won't work & will likely just blow up in your hands. And, please don't tell me your "that guy" online that's pissing everybody off w/ the auto shotty, lol. |

You've got to be pretty bad-ass to be dual-wielding shotguns.
I call shens on that. Hate those bastards...
