1.   Staying in one place for too long.  Unless you and your teammates are covering specific areas, this is the easist way to get eliminated.  Staying in one place too long give the opponent time to manuever around or behind "flank" you.

2.   Loosing you temper when you get eliminated.  If you play this game you are going to get eliminated. Sometimes it may happen a little closer than you would have hoped. With these high rate of fire guns, you may even take a few extra bonus balls, it happens, get over it.  Instead of getting angry, use the time in the elimination area to figure out what you did wrong, and strategize with your fellow eliminated team mates.

3.   Taking things for granted.  Just because you think no one could be behind a particular tree doesn't mean there isn't. Never assume anything. We do allow ghillie suits, and players are seen disappearing into brush and bushes regularly.

4.   Turning your back on the opposition.  If an opponent catches sight of you walking away with your back to them, they will most likely use that opportunity to move up and shoot you while you aren't looking. Retreat in groups with team members providing cover fire. Think Nave Seals.

5.   Target fixiation (Tunnel Vision).  This is when you are only aware of the player that you are shooting at.  Keep your eyes moving, always on the lookout for a flanking maneuver.  They player you are shooting at could be distracting you from the real danger.

6.   Forgetting to look over your shoulder.  Opponents have been known to come in from behind.  Many players enjoy the thrill of surprising the opponents and shooting them in the back. Don't forget to check your six.

7.   Shooting at an opponent that your teammate has under control.  Unless you're specifically needed to do so, don't waste paint on a player your teammate is shooting at. Concentrate on covering your team mate, just in case he is making mistake number 6.

8.   Getting cocky.  There is ALWAYS someone faster, stronger and better than you. You just haven't met him (or her) yet.

9.   Forgetting your teammates.  Even if you pulled the flag, never got eliminated and shot out most of the competition, you aren't the only member of the team.  Your teammates provided cover fire, distractions, and maybe even sacrificed themselves for the team.  Keep in mind that every player contributes in some way or another.

10.   Not being a good winner or loser.  There is nothing that says "childish" more than pouting when you lose or rubbing people's noses in it when you win.

Believe it or not, there are players who have been playing this game for years who still make these mistakes. So don't feel too bad if you make mistakes on your first time out.
